entry ten | Jasper

today i went to work with Jasper! as i mentioned in an earlier post, he's a police detective, so his work is really interesting.

Jasper had to interrogate a guy who is the main suspect in a murder case. his name is Chase (i can't remember his last name. i think it started with "N"). even though he'd been caught at the scene of the crime with a gun in his hand, he kept saying that he was innocent.

i tried to read his thoughts to see if he was lying, but he had a mental block, so i couldn't. still, i was able to pick up a few things using methods that Jasper had taught me.

in my notebook, i noted:

• Chase is wearing an expensive suit. it didn't look old or worn out at all, so that means he takes good care of it, or he's rich enough to have more than one of the suits. it's probably the latter.

• Chase straightens his hair. i could tell because it was starting to go curly again, probably because he hadn't had a chance to straighten it again.

• when Jasper yawned, Chase didn't. normally, yawns are contagious. this could mean that he's a psychopath, as they aren't affected by contagious yawing, but it could also mean that he's good at hiding his yawns.

• Chase's hair is short on the sides and long on the top. the long part of his hair is dyed dark green. it's been dyed recently. i don't really know what to make of this information.

• Chase is very persuasive. for a bit, he nearly had me convinced that he was completely innocent, and wasn't anywhere near the crime scene. this could suggest an number of things

• whenever he smiles, the smile doesn't reach his eyes. that means it's a fake smile. a good one, though. it almost seems real

• he's very arrogant

• like, REALLY arrogant. it's annoying.

Jasper got pretty much the same things as i did (plus some other details that i missed), and was impressed that i noticed the fake smile. he was just as confused as i was about Chase's mental block. also, he's grumpy that he didn't get a confession or anything.
